An intrapreneur is an employee in a company or in the public administration who behaves as innovative and entrepreneurial as if he or she were an entrepreneur. The term consists of the two English words "intracorporate" and "entrepreneur", and was first mentioned in 1978 by the American entrepreneur and author Gifford Pinchot III. Intrapreneurship therefore is entrepreneurship of employees within their company.
